Most people who find their way to Dr. Karla Kane have already tried everything else.

They have done the physical therapy. Taken the injections. Followed the protocols. And they are still in pain — or they recovered for a while, and then it came back. What they have not yet had is a clinician who looks at the whole movement system, identifies the precise pattern driving the problem, and addresses it at the source.

That is what Dr. Kane does.

About Integrated Vitality

Dr. Karla Kane, DPT, CSCS, PES | Founder, Integrated Vitality

Kane does.

The Training

Dr. Kane earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California — consistently ranked among the top physical therapy programs in the nation — graduating in 2025. Her clinical rotations took her through sports performance and orthopedic settings where she trained under a fellowship-trained manual therapist, refining advanced joint mobilization techniques across all body regions and working with athletes at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels.

Her formal credentials extend well beyond the DPT. Dr. Kane is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine — designations that position her at the intersection of clinical rehabilitation and elite athletic performance.

Her Pilates training was completed through Polestar Pilates, a company founded by physical therapist Brent Anderson, PhD, whose mission is to integrate traditional Pilates with the biomechanical and anatomical precision of modern physical therapy. This is not studio Pilates. It is clinical movement science expressed through a methodology that retrains the body from the inside out.

Dr. Kane is also a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200, International Yoga Alliance) with over eight years of teaching experience, and holds a Functional Yoga Systems (FYS) certification through the Gray Institute's Applied Functional Science framework. This approach allows her to address repetitive overuse injuries, modify traditional sequences for dynamic stability, and meet each client's specific movement demands functionally rather than generically.

Prior to her career in physical therapy, Dr. Kane earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business — one of the most competitive business programs in the country. That foundation now shapes how she thinks about delivering care: with precision, efficiency, and a commitment to elevating what people understand is possible for their bodies.

The Feldenkrais Dimension

What distinguishes Dr. Kane's practice most profoundly is her integration of the Feldenkrais Method into every aspect of her clinical work.

Developed by physicist and engineer Moshe Feldenkrais, this methodology operates on a principle that most conventional treatment overlooks entirely: chronic pain and restricted movement are not primarily structural problems. They are neurological ones. Over years of injury, habitual posture, repetitive sport, and accumulated stress, the nervous system develops movement patterns that create pain — and then defends those patterns with extraordinary persistence.

Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons work directly with this neurological dimension. Through slow, curious, almost effortless movement sequences, the method activates the brain's own capacity for neuroplasticity — its ability to form new neural connections, rewrite habitual movement maps, and discover options it has progressively stopped representing. The result is not temporary relief. It is a genuine reorganization of how the nervous system coordinates the body in space.

For Dr. Kane, this is the missing piece that explains why so many people improve temporarily and then return to pain. The pattern was never changed — only the symptom was quieted. Feldenkrais addresses the pattern. And when the pattern changes, the body stops needing to create pain to protect it.

This is the work she finds most meaningful — and the work that produces the most lasting results.

The Athletic Foundation

Dr. Kane's clinical eye was shaped long before she entered a physical therapy program. She competed as a gymnast for over fifteen years across all four events — bars, beam, floor, and vault — developing an intimate understanding of the body as a movement system long before she had the clinical vocabulary to describe it. She also competed in varsity tennis for four years, adding a racquet sport perspective to her movement library.

That foundation of elite physical training informs everything she does clinically — the precision of her movement observations, the depth of her understanding of compensation patterns under load, and her ability to communicate with active athletes in a language they recognize and trust.

Today, Dr. Kane is actively involved in the South Florida Latin dance community and trains with CAM Dance Company in Davie, Florida — continuing the lifelong practice of using movement as both exploration and expression.

The Global Perspective

Dr. Kane spent over four years living and teaching yoga across South and Central America — Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Guatemala — where she became fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese and developed a deep connection to Latin culture, community, and the role movement plays in human vitality across different ways of life.

She now brings that global perspective and bilingual fluency to her practice in South Florida, where she is uniquely positioned to serve both the English-speaking and Latin communities with the same depth of expertise and cultural resonance.

In her personal life, Dr. Kane loves exploring new styles of dance, walking on the beach and through the woods, spending time on the water with friends, and finding workouts that feel less like exercise and more like play — the kind of movement that reminds the body what it is truly capable of.
